I love the idea behind photo conversation cards. The secular world has been using them in workshops for years now and the church has started to too. One particular facilitators pack comes in at a whopping $340. Story Cards, a North Point Resource, (https://amzn.to/2sXKj56) are sturdy and well produced but if you have a lot of groups, you might end up shelling out a good amount of money and there are only 50 cards in a pack.
Also, if you’re like me, maybe you love the option of printing on demand. We’ve got a great printer in the office and a quality card stock paper can go a long way. I’m getting ahead of myself.
Why photo conversation cards?
If you’ve never used a tool like this before - allow me to introduce the concept to you. In my small group, when we ask people, “how’s your relationship with God” we most often get some variation of: “I feel like I prayed a lot this week but I haven’t read scripture much” OR “I feel like I’ve been in the word a lot but I haven’t spent much time praying.” When people answer that question, they usually default to sharing about what they’ve been doing.
When we introduced photo cards and asked people to choose a photo that best represents their relationship with God and tell us why - a different part of their brain is activated and they begin to share and reveal more about themselves than they typically would.
The questions you ask can vary:
choose a card that represents your relationship with God
choose a card that represents your life at home
choose a card that depicts how you feel about graduating
When students sort through the photos - they’re asking themselves: How can I use one of these to answer this question? And the answers begin to go much deeper than typical surface level responses.
Some mission teams will also use photo cards when language barriers might otherwise make communication difficult.
Why OneK Cards?
A picture is worth a thousand words, right? But wouldn’t it be great if that picture was a downloadable pack that you could pay once for and print as many as you needed? I mean, if you’ve got 10 small groups and want to buy a typical photo card conversation set for each group, it might cost you a pretty penny. Plus, you need to wait for shipping.
Here’s what you get with OneK cards:
100 curated photos
Edited to look similar to a Polaroid
Thin cutting lines to take the guesswork out as you print on demand
These took an unspeakable amount of hours to produce but we really value this tool and what it can bring to your youth groups. We’re glad to make it more accessible than ever for your group to use photo conversation cards.
If you join our Facebook Community, we’ll be offering this product for free in the next few days.
One K Photo Cards help your group to share more freely and to get beneath the surface. You’ll be surprised at the responses you get at your groups open up and respond to your prompts. When you purchase our OneK Photo Conversation Card pack you’ll get 100 curated photos in the form of slightly oversized polaroids. All you need to do is download, print, and cut. You won’t have to wait for shipping and you’ll be able to print as many times as you need to. So if you lose some or some get damaged, you don’t need to order more and hope they get to you in time for your event. We suggest going with a thicker cardstock or even a glossy photo paper. The stack of photos in the image provided were printed on a thicker glossy photo paper.
“I lead this activity with our staff for devotion yesterday and it was AWESOME! And I can’t wait to do it with our youth! Thank you for carefully selecting such beautiful photos. We were all in awe of the quality. It was such an easy purchase!”
